A Shinglehouse man was injured after crashing in to a roller rink in the
Bolivar area yesterday. The crash sparked a blaze that destroyed the rink.
Bolivar First Assistant Fire Chief Terry Bentley says the canned fruit truck
slammed into a wall at the Coliseum about 1 am Tuesday.
Truck Driver Richard Larkin of Shinglehouse was spared as he leapt from the
truck just before the impact.
The trucks gas tanks blew up, causing fire to spread through the
105-year-old roller rink, causing about 750 thousand dollars in damage.
The coliseum has been a popular venue for local musicians and roller skaters
for years.
