29 farms in PA are now protected.
Governor Ed Rendell says the state's premiere Farmland Preservation program
preserved more than 22 thousand acres of farmland in 2005
Rendell says once farmland has been rezoned for residential or commercial
use, it can no longer be used as a farm.
The effort is in an attempt to preserve PA's agricultural heritage, and
future.
The program has preserved more than 300 thousand acres since 1988.
