Adelphia communications has scrapped plans announced last month to offer hardcore porn services over their cable network. Public outcry and obscenity complaints were generated when the company announced its plans. Adelphia founder, and former CEO, John Rigas often gained criticism for not offering adult programming while he held the reigns of the cable company.

***Editor's Note: While I certainly applaud Adelphia's decision not to offer porn movies, I have to ask why they even planned to run it in the first place? Not to sound like a prude, but it's no wonder so many marriages fall apart today. Wanna discuss? Feel free to comment.

Josh good response and question. I think it just goes to show you that CORP America has one agenda. MONEY!!! They have no morals when it comes to lining their pockets with the green. How else could this great country pay the average CEO 10 million a year. Then they have the nerve to say times are tough and they have to ship jobs out of the country. If Adelphia would even consider having porn available on their cable shows how low things are getting in this country. Oh but I'm sure they would say well we have to stay competitive with satellite or we'll lose money and then all the CEO's, CFO's CIO's not to mention all the VP's each company supports won't make millions. It's a sad state. Let's not forget the Rigas's who looted Adelphia of billions to spend on themselves and try to make it look like they were doing all the local people a great service when it was all on the stock holders/investors dime.

I believe that both of you two are being really closed minded. There is small piece of law called the 1st Amendment to keep in mind. People have the right to view what they want and purchase whatever the item may be. Just because this service is being offered, does not mean that you have to subcribe to it what so ever. Secondly, the comment posted by the blog publisher about "marriages breaking up", I do not believe that this is a result of pornographic material but rather in large portion because of the internet, yet another service that Adelphia, along with many other companies, offers. For some reason I don't hear much complaint about that. In fact, if there was no such service like the Internet, you would be able to post your opinion, yet again attributed to the first amendment, on such a service as this blog.
