Residents in Genesee aren’t happy about PennDot’s closing of the Genesee River’s main bridge about a year ago. 600 people signed a petition last year to reopen the bridge. Representative Martin Causer joined the Potter County Commisioners in an effort to ask PennDot Officials to repair and reopen the bridge.
Rumors have circulated that PennDot plans to eliinate the bridge altogether.
Comissioners tried to dispel the rumor until finding out recently the rumor is true.
PennDot's Scott Majot says the state has now rescinded its plans to scrap the bridge.
Now, a 100 thousand feasibility project is in the works to see if the bridge can be replaced or repaired.
