Before September 1, the Pennsyvania Game Commission will mail out it's annual in-lieu-of-tax payments to local governments to offset the loss of potential property tax revenues.
The PGC aquires lands using revenue generated from hunting liscenses, timber and mineral sales, and federal funds gained from excise tax on ammunition. The Game Commission has State Game Landholdings in every county except for Philadelphia and Delaware.
The PGC owns 12,963.1 acres in Cameron County. The $1.20 per acre that the Commission pays to the county, will be divided evenly divided between the county, school district and municipal governments based onthe acres of State Game Lands that are within each political subdivision.
