Today is National School Backpack awareness Day. Locally, CARE for children
is teaming up withy the American Occupational Therapy association to let
parents and students to the dangers of carrying backpacks too heavy, and
improperly worn.
Students should not carry more than 15 percent of their body weight. And
backpacks should be fitted so that the straps fit snugly, and the pack is
carried in the middle of the child's back.
Injuries, and back and neck pain are on the rise as more students carry
heavier load home, and around school with them.
