Assault Charges 8/25
A suspect has been arrested on aggravated assault charges for an incident June 20th in Emporium. 20-year old Francisco Soto was arrested Wednesday and arraigned in front of District Judge Wilhelm in St. Marys. Soto is charged for allegedly grabbing 23-year old Raymond Banks by the throat during a verbal argument in Emporium. Soto allegedly slammed Banks’ head into the road and caused him to lose consciousness, then hit Banks in the head several times. Banks was taken to Elk Regional Hospital for treatment. Soto is currently being held in Potter County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Stolen Wire 8/26
The B & P Railroad of Rochester, NY was a victim of theft recently. According to Ridgway-based state police, sometime in the last week, someone stole over 2,000 feet of copper wire from a location in Jones Township in Elk County. The wire was estimated worth $2200.

Potter County Accident 8/25
An accident in Potter County Wednesday afternoon resulted in minor injuries for two people. A 2003 Dodge sedan driven by a 17-year-old female was traveling south on state route 44 just before 6:30 p.m. when the vehicle attempted to make a left turn and drove into the path of a Ford Pick-up driven by 26-year old Mark Watson of Coudersport. Watson’s vehicle struck the other vehicle. Watson and a 17-year old male passenger in the first vehicle suffered minor injuries but refused treatment.

Airport Grant 8/25
U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta announced a grant for the Bradford Regional Airport Thursday. The $220 thousand grant is one of 37 going to smaller communities in the United States to improve air service. The grant was awarded under the Small Community Air Service Development program and will be used for a comprehensive marketing program.

Ryan’s Death Suspicious 8/26
The investigation into the death of Pitt Bradford Graduate Patrick Ryan is underway. Forest County District Attorney Mark Aaron says the case has drawn in bigger resources. A Major case team has been activated; bring in additional resources to complete the investigation.

Ryan’s body was found in a wooded are in Northern Forest County after he had been missing for one week.

Police say his home had been left with the lights and fans on, and Ryan’s family says the man’s cell phone was left at home.

Forest County Coroner Norman Wimer is treating the death as a homicide.

McKean County Rapist and Kidnapper Wants Sentenced Thrown Out 8/26
49-year-old Thomas Slater has been imprisoned since 1994 for kidnapping and sexually assaulting his estranged wife.

Slater is still hoping to get a correction in his sentencing. Slater was sentenced to 9-18 years for this incident. He is still awaiting the results of a post conviction relief act petition to get the sentence reduced. In October, Superior Court ruled that his sentenced should be re-done, and it was sent back to McKean County Court.
Slater has submitted three other petitions to get the case thrown out.

District Attorney John Pavlock does not agree that the case should be dropped.

Stolen Scooter 8/25
Two Scooters were stolen from a home in Shinglehouse. State Police were called in to investigate the theft last week. Police say a 13-year-old juvenile has been accused of taking the scooters.

48-year-old Gerald Lamb reported the crime.

Dead Crow Has West Nile 8/26
A Dead Crow tested positive for West Nile Virus in Meadville. It’s the first reported case this year in Northwestern PA.
The bird was found Aug. 7, and results were posted Wednesday.
Recently dead crows, blue jays, hawks, or owls should be taken to the McKean County Extension office for West Nile Testing.

Eldred Accident 8/26
An Eldred man escaped injury following a one vehicle accident Thursday morning in Eldred Township. According to State Police out of Kane, 19-year old Christopher App was traveling east on Moody Hollow Road at 1:30 a.m. when his 1987 Ford F-150 began to slide sideways as he attempted to round a curve. The vehicle spun around and struck a small embankment, rolled over and struck a tree. The truck was severely damaged and charges are pending against App.

UPB Gets Grant 8/26
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will receive one million dollars to use for their technology needs and to establish a new technology fund, thanks to a gift from a local philanthropist. Paul C. Duke III, a former co-owner of Zippo Manufacturing, has given a $500,000 gift to the University to support the university’s ongoing technology needs and to establish the Paul C. Duke Technology Fund, which will fund future needs. Duke’s gift will be matched by the Zippo/Case Technology Challenge, thus bringing Duke’s total gift to $1 million.

Also in honor of the gift, the Aquatic Center at Pitt-Bradford will be named the Paul C. Duke Aquatic Center.

Children’s Home Sexual Assault 8/27
An alleged sexual assault between two male juveniles at the Adelphoi Village Children’s home Is currently investigation by State police in Coudersport. The alleged incidences occurred over three separate occasions spanning from March 28 to April 3, 2005. State police were contacted on August 23 and were requested to investigate the allegation.

Lewis Run Burglary 8/27
State Police in Kane are reporting a burglary at the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church in Lewis Run sometime Friday evening and yesterday afternoon. Unknown persons entered the church through a door on the side of the building. Once inside the persons opened a door and entered the office area. It is undetermined what is missing at this time. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Pennsylvania state police in Kane.

Stolen Electric 8/27
A Lancaster man is being charged with Theft of services and Criminal Mischief according to State Police in Coudersport. Jerome Wisnosky is accused of the charges as he reportedly tampered with an electrical meter box to illegally obtain Electrical services from Tri – County Rural Electric Cooperative. The alleged incidents occurred from June 29 to July 15 2005.

Gas Stolen 8/28
State Police in Coudersport are reporting that a Woman is wanted for leaving without paying for gasoline in Genesee Thursday night. The woman is described as White with light colored hair and driving a tan colored sedan. The Woman reportedly pumped 20 dollars worth of gas at Gold’s General Store in Genesee. She then left the scene in an unknown direction without paying. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State police in Coudersport.

Crash 8/28
State Police in Coudersport are reporting a two-vehicle accident that has left one person in serious condition yesterday. The incident involved two motorcycles one driven by Jeff Kaufman and the other by John Kaufman. The cyclists were traveling north on State route 49 when John Kaufman signaled a right hand turn and attempted to turn off the roadway onto a pulloff area. Jeff Kaufman failed to see the signal and collided with John. Jeff Kaufman’s bike came to rest off the eastern side of the roadway and John Kaufman’s bike came to rest alon the eastern berm. Jeff Kaufman suffered serious injuries and his wife, who was his passenger, had minor injuries. John Kaufman and his wife both are reported to have sustained minor injuries. All of the individuals were transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital.

State Of Emergency in Wellsville 8/28
Wellsville has declared a state of emergency after a tire fire has left a cloud of acrid black smoke. The state of emergency was enacted at approximately 2:30 yesterday as fire fighters and workers from the Otis Eastern Services Company, where the fire was located, attempted to put the fires out. The State of emergency was lifted at approximately 5:30 yesterday as the smoke turned white and began to dissipate. The fire involved a pile of tires connected together and used as mats for heavy equipment to cross roads. Investigators are not sure what caused the fire but know that a volunteer fire department was holding a controlled bur in the area earlier in the day.

Horses Limited in ANF 8/28
Allegheny National Forest officials are considering a proposal that will limit horseback riding in an attempt to protect the forest’s natural resources. The four options officials face range from making no changes to limiting riding to marked trails and charging a fee. Some riders are concerned about the inconvenience this ban could cause for them, but forest public affairs official, Steve Miller, says they are trying to do what is best for everyone.

Coudy Water Dirtied 8/29
Coudersport Borough Manager Marlin Moore advises residents they may experience dirty water caused by the new water pumping station start up. Moore said the project requires several adjustments to get it “up and running” but it will result in better water in the near future. Officials say to run cold water until it is clear before using hot water.

Tomatoes are GOOD for You 8/29
New research suggests that eating tomatoes could help people suffering from hypertension. Recent studies show that natural lycopene found in tomatoes can help to lower high blood pressure. Researches tested hypertensive patients ages 30 to 70 who had been unsuccessful lowering their blood pressure using 1 or 2 drug methods. They gave some of the patients a lycopene supplement including beta-carotene and vitamin e and those who took it experienced a significant reduction in blood pressure. Other studies revealed that lycopene also protects against degenerative diseases such as heart disease.

DUI Crackdown 8/29
Pennsylvania State troopers from the Kane and Ridgway barracks joined together for the month of August and performed aggressive patrols in McKean and Elk Counties in an attempt to crack down on drinking and driving. No drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, however a pedestrian was cited for being intoxicated and two drivers were given warnings, one for not carrying his license with him and the other for failing to wear a seatbelt. More joint patrol operations are planned for the troop C area, which includes Clarion, Clearfield, Forest and Jefferson counties, as well as Elk and McKean counties.

Roulette Man Charged 8/30
Police charged Robert Wright of Roulette with criminal mischief after he reportedly damaged Roulette resident Lisa DeGroat’s car grill following an argument between the two individuals.

Roulette Couple Have Baby Taken Away 8/30
A Roulette couple were arrested Monday and charged for injuries to a six-month old infant. 28-year old John Post Sr and 25-year old Daisy Post have both been charged with endangering the welfare of children after the six month old male was taken to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital on August 26th and then life-flighted to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. The infant had a fractured left leg and right arm, a healing skull fracture and multiple bruises on his face. John Post was also charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. John Post was taken to Potter County jail in lieu of $150,000 bail while Daisy Post was released on $35,000 unsecured bail.

Car Damaged 8/30
A Smethport man’s vehicle suffered major damage last night while parked in Norwich Township. In what Kane-based state police are calling an incident of criminal mischief, someone broke the windshield, back and side windows of a 2004 Ford F-150 owned by 23-year old Mark Foltz and also caused major body damage with a sharp object. The person or group responsible then fled the scene. Anyone with information should contact Trooper Stewart at the Kane Barracks.

Pitt Bradford Ranks Well 8/30
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has been named as one of the best northeastern colleges by the Princeton Review. Pitt-Bradford is one of 224 select colleges and universities recognized for their academic program, faculty and staff and campus. Last year, the university was named one of the 115 best colleges in the mid-Atlantic, also by the Princeton Review. The ratings were based on comments students made about college life, academics, the student body and campus life in surveys that were conducted during the 2003-04 academic year, along with institutional data collected and school visits conducted.

Bradford Man Lands in Tuna 8/30
A Bradford man escaped with minor injuries after his vehicle went off the Elm Street Bridge this morning and landed in the Tuna Creek. 31-year old Rick Rockwell suffered a cut on his head when the car he was driving lost its brakes while he was traveling down the Elm Street exit ramp of Route 219. The car went through the railing on the north side of the bridge and landed on its roof in the creek. Rockwell got out of the vehicle unassisted and was taken to the Bradford City police station by an area resident. The vehicle was towed by Clayt’s body shop and crews from PennDOT were called to repair the railing.

Young Republicans Start Up 8/30
State Representative Martin Causer has announced the creation of the McKean County Young Republicans organization in hopes of increasing participation in the political process. The group’s focus is encouraging active participation in politics, especially among younger generations. According to Causer, the group is seeking members from all communities across the county and plans to hold meetings and sponsor political events around the area. Jamestown Man Charged With Murder 8/30
A Jamestown man was charged with murder following the death of a woman Sunday. 38-year old Jeffrey Bellian has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Stephanie Foti-Bellian, both of whom lived on West Virginia Boulevard in Jamestown. Jamestown Police and the Chatauqua County District Attorney’s office are investigating the death, which apparently followed a domestic dispute.

Police Seek Man Last Seen in Roulette 8/31
Shinglehouse Borough police are searching for 51-year-old Shinglehouse resident Mark Dexter. Dexter was last seen Friday night at the Friendly Inn on Main Street in Roulette wearing black shorts and a black hat with the Elliott Lumber logo. He was driving a maroon 1994 Ford Escort with Pennsylvania License plate. Dexter is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, 130 to 150 pounds, has blue eyes, a receding brown hairline and many tattoos. Shinglehouse police ask anyone with information to his whereabouts to contact them.

Bradford Store Prepares To Close 8/31
Archers will hold a close out sale this weekend. Jack Archer, the store’s long-time owner, says he is not sure when the store will close but hints it will be as soon as possible. The building has been sold to an out of town investor.

Archers already has reduced its operating hours and is closed Sundays.

The Fullington Trailways bus station, which has been housed at Archers, will relocate to the Crosby Mini Mart on South Avenue on Thursday.

Bradford Assailant Found Guilty 8/31
A jury returned a Verdict of guilty Tuesday in the trial of a Bradford man charged with assault. 19-year old Adam Quigley was convicted on four counts of assault for an incident September 26th of 2004, when Quigley was involved in the beating of Darren Cruz, also a Bradford resident.

Quigley’s sentencing is set for September 29th.

Landfill Takeover Complete 8/31
The long awaited takeover of the McKean County Landfill has now occurred. Rustick LLC is now operating the landfill. The company paid $17 million dollars in cash and guaranteed payments over the next 20 years.

The McKean County Solid Waste Authority has already entered into an agreement with Rustick LLC for disposal of the county’s trash.

Causer Sets Workshop 8/31
Representative Martin Causer has announced he will hold a local government workshop for municipal and law enforcement officials at the Port Allegany borough building September 15th. Causer says the workshop will provide local officials with information concerning the purchase of state vehicles and equipment, as well as state and federal surplus items and law enforcement options. Causer says his office has been receiving questions and concerns on these issues a lot recently. For those interested in attending the workshop, call Causer’s Bradford office at 362-4400.

Blood Drive 9/01
In response to critically low blood supplies in northwestern Pennsylvania, Adelphia/Coudersport and the American Red Cross are holding a blood drive. It will take place Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Adelphia School Building gymnasium. The blood shortage has caused area hospitals to only use available supplies for accident victims, patients requiring critical surgery and children with blood disorders. The Red Cross is offering prizes to donors in an attempt to boost bloodmobile turnout. Prizes include a big-screen plasma TV, $25 gas cards and a pair of tickets to the Sept. 13 performance by the Rolling Stones in Albany, N.Y.

Forty Cent Burglary 9/01
Coudersport based state police are investigating a burglary at the North Eulalia Baptist Church on Route 49. Someone pried open the front door, causing 1,000 dollars in damage. Once inside, they searched several areas before leaving with a basket containing 40 cents. State police ask anyone with information about the incident to call them at the Coudersport barracks.

Kane Burglary 9/01
Kane based state police are investigating a burglary at the John Lindman residence in Kane. The burglars forced entry into Lindman’s garage. State police ask anyone with information about the incident to call then at the Kane barracks.

Emporium Break – In 9/01
Emporium-based State Police are looking into an incident of criminal trespass that occurred Wednesday morning. A male figure was seen standing in the residence of Judy Studer on Old Portage Road at 5:15 a.m. No further information was available.

Window Busted 9/01
An employee of Emporium Hardwoods was the victim of criminal mischief on Tuesday morning. Someone broke the rear sliding glass window of a 1995 Ford F-150 owned by 34-year old Donald Brizenbine of Emporium as the truck was parked at Emporium Hardwoods between 6 and 8 a.m. Tuesday

Rifles Okayed in NY 9/01
New York Governor George Pataki signed a bill that will allow Southern Tier hunters to use rifles to hunt deer. The bill will take effect immediately, meaning this year’s hunting season, which starts November 19th, will allow hunters in Cattaraugus and Allegany counties and other areas of the state to use rifles. However, rifles will not be permitted for hunting in Allegany State Park. Hunters there will continue to be able to use only shotguns, bows and muzzleloaders.

Walk For Life Scheduled 9/01
Two walks for life are scheduled for later this month to benefit the Twin Tiers Pregnancy Care Center, which serves Cattaraugus and Allegany counties in New York and McKean and Potter counties in Pennsylvania. The Walks for Life, centering on the theme "Making a World of Difference," will be held on Sept. 11 on the Allegheny River Valley Trail in New York State and Sept. 18 at Hamlin Lake Park in Smethport. The winning youth group or team at each walk will receive a pizza party donated by the center's board of directors. Fleas Take Over 9/01
The Olean Middle School has a flea problem. According to Superintendent Mark Ward, the school has a moderate outbreak of fleas and is being fumigated. The source of the fleas has not been determined, although David Fidurko, superintendent of building and grounds says an employee could have carried them in by accident. School has not yet started in New York and Ward says the building will be ready for students and staff when the school year begins.

Stolen CD’s 9/01
A Kane woman was the victim of music theft overnight Wednesday. 38-year old Constance Smith reported having a case holding 38 CDs stolen from her vehicle as it was parked at her residence in Wetmore Township. State troopers from the Kane barracks are investigating.

Potter County Man Shoots Cat 9/02
A judge sentenced 18-year-old Orry Murray to 90 days to 23 ½ months in jail and a year probation for cruelty to animals. Potter County District Attorney Jeff Leber said Murray admitted he shot and killed his mother’s cat with a BB gun in Coudersport Borough on January 29, 2005.

One Smart Whale 9/02
A scientist reports that a killer whale at Marineland has figured out how to use fish as bait to catch seagulls. Michael Noonan, a professor of animal behavior at Canisius College in Buffalo, accidentally discovered the behavior while studying orca acoustics. The young whale spit regurgitated fish onto the surface of the water, sank below and waited for its prey. Within a few months the whale’s younger half-brother adopted the practice and it has now spread to three other whales.

Planned Power Outage 9/02
Penelec will be conducting a planned power outage on Saturday, September 3rd from approximately 3 to 3:30 p.m., affecting the Shinglehouse and Millport area. In case of and emergency or inclement weather, they will conduct the outage on either Sunday Sept. 4th or Monday Sept. 5th at approximately the same time. Penelec apologizes for any inconvenience the outage may cause but said they appreciate everyone’s patience while they perform necessary maintenance on the facilities in the area.

Household Discount Buglars Nabbed 9/02
District Justice Alvin Brown’s office charged 19-year-old Gregory Burdick and 18-year-old Gerald Lewis on August 30th in connection to a burglary at Household Discount Store in Emporium. Police still have more arrests to make in connection with the burglary.

Man Arrested 9/02
Coudersport based state police arrested Michael Milliron and charged him with assault and harassment after his involvement in a domestic disturbance with his wife Laurie.

Court Rules In Favor of Bradford 9/02
The US District court for Western Pennsylvania has returned a decision on the sign ordinance in Bradford and the ordinance regulating signs in the Historic District. The court issued a 46-page opinion that concluded the ordinances do not infringe on the First Amendment right of free speech. The court rejected the challenges from Tom Riel, Diane Thompson and Fred Pysher on the constitutionality of the ordinances.
Mayor Michele Corignani commented the ordinances regulating signs are important to maintaining the growth and revitalization of the City, which started with the recognition of the historic district by the commonwealth and the inclusion on the National Register of historic places.

Paving Delayed 9/02
The night paving of Route 6 in Kane, which was scheduled to start last Monday has been set to start Tuesday, September 6th. This week’s weather postponed the work. The paving will be done on Route 6 through Kane from Clay Street to Holman Street and will include Biddle, and Fraley streets. The work will be done from 6 in the evening until 6 in the morning Tuesday until completed, which should be one week, weather permitting.

Obersvation Deck Likely 9/02
A new public observation platform could be ready by this time next year at Kinzua Bridge State Park. According to Eugene Comoss, chief engineer with the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, he and his staff are designing structural repairs for the two remaining sections of the railroad bridge. The two platforms will take six to eight months to complete. Comoss says designs for the platforms should be completed late this year.

ANF Sends Help 9/02
The Allegheny National Forest (NF), in conjunction with the
Green Mountain NF, sent a crew of 20 trained personnel to help with the
relief effort for Hurricane Katrina in the New Orleans, La., area on
Wednesday, August 31st. These employees are trained in the Incident
Command System and will be used to help establish assistance to victims of
the hurricane and subsequent flooding. The Forest Service has dispatched a
total of 1,674 personnel to the incident.

Elk Feedback Sought 9/02
Pennsylvania Game Commission officials are seeking public input regarding a draft of its "Management Plan for Elk in Pennsylvania," which has been posted on its website for review. The draft plan was developed by Jon DeBerti, Game Commission elk biologist, and the Northcentral Regional staff, and is an update to the elk management plan of 1996. A copy of the draft plan can be reviewed by going to the Game Commission website http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/, click on "Wildlife," then choose "Elk" and select "Draft Elk Management Plan." Public comment will be accepted through the end of October via e-mail elkplan2005@state.pa.us or by mail.

Church Break-In’s 9/05
Rural churches are still targets in Pennsylvania, as a church in Wetmore Township of McKean County has become the latest victim. State police in Kane report that the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses received damage to a door and broke its handle as the persons attempted to gain access to the church.

Eldred Woman Injured 9/05
An Eldred woman sustained minor injuries after swerving to miss a passing motorist yesterday. According to Pennsylvania State Police in Kane, Donna Stull was traveling north on State Route 155 when a vehicle traveling south attempted to pass another vehicle and entered Stull's lane. Stull then swerved to miss the other vehicle and hit a fence along the roadway. There was minor damage to Stull's vehicle. She was transported to the Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Car Fire 9/05
A malfunction caused a vehicle to catch fire yesterday according to Pennsylvania State police in Kane. Marcia Lamar was reportedly traveling south on West Eldred Road when he vehicle caught fire. Both Lamar and her 3-year-old grandchild escaped the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. The troopers were assisted on the scene by the Eldred Township Fire Department.

Eldred Woman Uninjuerd 9/05
An Eldred woman was not injured in a one vehicle crash this morning on Barnum Road. According to Kane-based State Police, 33-year old Randi Gotshall was traveling South on Barnum Road at 7:30 a.m. when a deer ran onto the roadway. Gotshall swerved to miss the deer and hit a utility pole, shearing off the pole and causing disabling damage to Gotshall’s 2000 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Keating Township Violence 9/05
Kane-based State Police are investigating an incident of domestic violence in Keating Township. Police report the incident occurred on Woodard Road at 11:45 a.m. and no further information is available as the incident remains under active investigation.

Mt. Jewett Accident 9/05
An accident Sunday morning on Route 6 in Mount Jewett led to charges for both the driver and a passenger. According to Pa State troopers, 30-year old Jason Wall of Mount Jewett intentionally drove his vehicle into a parked car owned by John Baney of Bradford. Wall was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and traffic violations, while a passenger, 19-year old Noelle Myers, also of Mount Jewett, was arrested for harassment.

Port Allegany Man Dies 9/05
A Port Allegany man has died of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. 21-year old James Haskins died Friday from injuries he suffered on August 26th in a motorcycle accident in Indiana. Three other motorcyclists were with Haskins at the time of his accident.

Aliens Arrested (Sorry, Couldn’t Resist the Headline) 9/05
Ridgway-based State Police report the arrest of four illegal aliens Sunday evening. Troopers stopped to check on the welfare of 12 individuals who were parked along Route 219 near the village of Brandycamp and found that four of those individuals were illegally in the United States. The four individuals, all from Mongolia, were placed in Clearfield County jail and will be picked up by officials from U.S. Customs and Immigration at a later time.

Smethport Teen Helps Out 9/06
A Smethport Teenager is making a difference for victims of Hurricane Katrina along the gulf coast. Smethport Senior Shana Miller started collecting donatings for the American Red Cross outside of various businesses last Thursday, and plans to donate not only her after school time, but her senior project.

After speaking with the senior project advisor, Ross Porter, Miller signed on with the Red Cross as a volunteer and started logging the hours needed for her senior project.

Area Guard Goes To Help Katrina Victims 9/06
The National Guard deployment to help the Hurricane Victims in Louisiana will take a few local soldiers. National Guard units from the Ridgway, Bradford and Erie area left Saturday and Sunday to ship out to the Gulf Coast to help out in the efforts to provide support for the victims of last week’s hurricane.

Bona’s Takes Students 9/06
College Students displaced by Hurricane Katrina may be on their way to St. Bonaventure. The college has offered free room and board at St. Bona’s to students unable to return to their home colleges.

Pataki Praised 9/06
NY Governor George Pataki has received praises for his decision to restrict the use a mercury-laced preservative in children's vaccines.
The ban on thimerosal from vaccines for children younger than 3 and for pregnant women will begin July 2008. Thimerosal is meant to prevent bacteria in the vaccines, but some scientists claim it causes autism and other neurological disorders.
Many parents stand in support of the ban.

Prison Deputy Warden Named 9/06
A New Deputy Warden will take his seat at the McKean County Prison next week. Tim Woodruff has been named as the Deputy Warden for Programs and Population at a salary of 39 thousand a year.
Woodruf will work on an educational and mental health program to help stop inmates from going back to jail a second time.

ATV Crash 9/06
An ATV Crash Saturday in Keating Township sent one passenger to Sayre Hospital via medical helicopter. Michael Safranyos of Leechburg was traveling on the ATV on Reed Run road in Potter County when he lost control in a drainage ditch. His passenger, Marlene Safranyos fell from the four-wheeler and sustained a head injury.

Austin Ambulance and Fire Department coordinated a landing zone and treated Ms. Safranyos until the chopper could arrive.

Emporium Men Busted For Stealing 19 Dollars From Ice Cream Store 9/06
Two Emporium man have been arrested in connection with a burglary at Brown’s Ice Cream Store. 19-year-old Steve Crespo and 18 year old Joshua Michael Thomas have been identified by State Police as the perpetrators in the Burglary August 31. The pair has been arraigned before the District Justice.

Potter County Man Arrested 9/06
A Potter County man has been jailed after an alleged sexual assault last week. 38-year-old Sean Easton of Genesee is accused of sexually assaulting a 23 year old woman in her home, and threatening her with more violence. Easton was arraigned on charges of aggravated indecent assault, criminal trespassing, and making terroristic threats among others.
