After the Helicopter crash near the Bradford regional airport, staffing at
the Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center has become an issue.
According to the ARTCC, they were contacted at 11:40pm by the Lifestar
helicopter but did not have any computer operators on duty at the time. A
Traffic Management Unit employee that was not trained to operate the
computer system tried to find the coordinates of the crash sight. Within 30
min of one of the two trained computer operators returning to duty, the
sight was located five hours after the crash. A New computer system being
installed and retiring computer operators were sighted for the under manned
Control Center.

The New system may not be in place until 2009 or even as late as 2011.
Training of new computer operators takes approximately two years according
to the Center's management. The FAA has sighted similar problems across the
nation.
