The Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Health Department is going to start
tracking an infection that doesn't respond well to antibiotics.
The staph infection, known as MRSA, is found mostly in hospitals, nursing
homes and jails, but health care workers think it may be moving into the
general population.
Two female inmates at the Allegheny County Jail died of the infection last
year, and more than 24 guards and other inmates contracted it.
It has also been reported among high school football players and other
groups who are in close contact.
