Five non-profit public interest groups have threatened a "guerilla war" if Adelphia Communications sells assets to Time Warner and Comcast. The chair of the Center for Digital Diversity says the venture may make sense for the companies involved, but it would be antithetical to competition and the free flow of information. IN addition to the Center for Digital Diversity, the political advocacy organization Common Cause, the Media Access Project, the Center for Creative Voices in Media, and Free Press have pledged to fight any legal way possible to prevent the merger.
THe purchase of the fifth largest Cable Company in American would eliminate much of the competition for Time Warner and Comcast. Time Warner is the second largest cable company, and Comcast is the nations largest.
