Members of the Mt Jewett Volunteer Fire Department are requesting the
borough council begin planning to replace their current firetruck. Fire
Chief Craig Simons put in the request through a letter to council, stating
the 1989 GMC truck now in use is past its 10-year mandatory refurbishment
stage and it would cost approximately $90 thousand to restore, while a new
truck could be purchased for a minimum of $125 thousand. Simons says the
department is requesting a plan that would replace the truck within five
years.
