A call of a wildfire Tuesday morning had turned into a structure fire when
Mt Jewett Volunteer Fire Department got on scene. The fire had started at
the side of a garage owned by Bill Smith and worked its way inside.
Firefighters were on scene for just under an hour and managed to prevent all
but minor damage. A tanker truck from Hamlin Volunteer Fire Department was
called in for water. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
