26 year old John V. Ash, of Columbus, Ohio, took the life of his 6 year old son, before ending his own life. Both victims died of single gunshot wounds. The bodies were discovered at a camp along Route 59, 3 miles west of Route 219, in LaFayette Township, McKean County. State Police are continuing their investigation into the incident. The PA State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lafayette Twp. Fire Dept., the McKean County District Attorney's Office and Coroner Michael Cahill.

I can't believe the previous post said that he was "a good man". For those of you who don't know these people his mother came to the camp and found him when the school called to report that he wasn't in school. He was not a "good man" he is a murderer and it's a shame that he didn't just shoot himself first. He took steps to gain visitation with his son so how long was he planning this particular visit????

wow. how sad. i didn't know any of these people, but earlier today i met a young woman who turned out to be the mother in this incident. ...i can't imagine. and it's weird for me because in 2005 when this happened i was living not far from that area in Olean NY.
