State Police in Emporium would like to advise residents of a letter scam
that could cause identity theft. Letters have been received by some
residents from Loteria Primitiva - Elgordo from Madrid Spain claiming that
the recipient has won a large amount of money. In order for the victim to
claim the money they are asked to contact Lunas Global Security Company S.A.
in Rome Italy. Once contacted the victim is asked to either fax or enter
personal information over the phone. The Victims are informed that the
information will allow them to transfer the money to their bank account.

State Police advise the public not to ever give out personal information
over the phone or by fax. Since these kinds of scams are over seas they
have little to fear as they are outside of the legal jurisdiction of the
United States. The Public should also note that it is Illegal for US
Citizens to enter, purchase or accept winnings from International Loteries.
