Apparently federal officials agree that this area needs a boost to get
nature tourism up and running. Us Congressman John Peterson says funds have
been released from the US Department of Energy and the Army Corps of
Engineers to make improvements to the Visitors Center at the Kinzua Dam.
The final 2006 appropriations bill provides a total of $300,000 for the
improvements, and to improve build handicapped accessible fishing areas at
the reservoir.
With improvements at the Wolf Run Marina, and Allegheny National Forest
Campgrounds, Peterson says more tourists could be drawn to the area.
