As the Bradford Ambulance Service celebrates victory in Lafayette and Foster Townships, The Lewis Run Boro did not give them any good news last night.

After an argument Boro Fire Chief Kirk Zandy over whether or not the city of Bradford was crooked, Council put the issue of paying the City for the service to a vote, and gave it one “yes” and two “no’s”.

No special session was set, and council’s next meeting is in December.

The deadline to opt in to the city’s service is in 5 days.

I am a career firefighter and paramedic in training on the second busiest apparatus in a large midwestern city. The alternatives of not using the city service is having unpracticed personnel coming to you at your darkest moments of need as opposed to professionals who practice it every day as thier profession. If your life hangs in the balance which one would you chose?

great point...

the alternative in his case is a trained professional, but with a much smaller staff.. and much smaller budget... (brian gustafson's priority care ambulance out of smethport)

there have been concerns about his response times because of the distance necessary to access places like Lewis Run.. and concerns about the way he bills (membership drives, and larger bills than the city)
