Commissioners continued to discuss the Solid Waste Authority in last night’s
meeting. Hamlin Township, and vocal critic of the current regime Bill
Belitskus says that the commissioners November 5th meeting wasn’t legal, and
that the resolution made to halt the SWA’s disbursal of funds should be
re-ratified.

County officials say the money the SWA gave out belongs to them, and should
not have been given to any other municipalities.

The issue has been on hold while lawyers scour the documents to determine
the course of action.

Kane Borough Council is already planning to use the money from the Solid
Waste Authority. The proposed 2006 budget needed about 35 thousand to swing
it into balance. Council proposes using the landfill sale money.
35 thousand is about 21 percent of the total 168 thousand received by Kane.

County Commissioners are trying to get the money back.

Kane says the money is in an interest bearing account until it’s clear
whether they will get to keep it or not.
