Navy Chief Petty Officer Michael A. Schillinger,
and his fellow shipmates entered the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to
conduct maritime security operations (MSO) in the Suez Canal.

Maritime security operations sets the conditions for security and stability
in the maritime environment and denies international terrorists use of the
maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel,
weapons or other materials.

Schillinger joined the Navy in August 1987. He is the son of Ronald
Schillinger of Bradford and Betty Whiteman of Shinglehouse.
