Several pets died in a fire Last Thursday afternoon at 1458 Looker Mountain
Trail.

Larry Schuessler, assistant chief of the Otto Township Fire Department says
the home of Frank Barton was a 50 percent loss, but will probably be able to
be rebuilt.

He says no people were home when the fire started at about 12:15, but 3
dogs, 2 ferrets, 2 cats and 9 puppies died. However, 3 puppies were saved.

Firefighters were on the scene until about 7:30 with state police fire
marshal Greg Agosti, investigating the cause of the blaze. The cause is
still under investigation.

Otto Township, Eldred Borough, Eldred Township and Rew fire departments were
on the scene. Port Allegany was on stand-by.
