During last night's informational meeting concerning the city's historic
district, and historic preservation, Mayor Michelle Corignani said the city
made an offer to people at the Church of the Ascension, who wanted to tear
down a building and put in a parking lot for Emery Towers.
Corignani says the city tried to offer a solution to make everyone happy,
but Debbie Cavagnaro of the Church says they weren't happy at all.
She says Emery Towers already considered the parking lot at the corner of
Barbour and Mechanic streets, and it wasn't acceptable.
She adds that the city wanted to buy the building for 10 thousand dollars,
and then rent it out.
