McKean County Commissioners plan to enact a county wide burning ban. Commissioners announced Wednesday that they will hold a special session Friday at noon to enact the ban. The decision comes on the heels of a rare Red Flag warning from the national weather services. A week or two without rain, coupled with dead grasses and leaves from last fall, and whipping winds have created dry conditions perfect for wildfires.
Officials have already asked that people refrain from burning refuse or campfires. The ban would prohibit such burning, and probably slap a fine on violators.
