Zebra Mussels

An Aquatic Menace has been unleashed. The Department of Environmental
Protection says Zebra Mussels have been found in a creek near a boat launch
north of Akely in Warren County in the Conewango Creek.

The colony could have come fro Chautauqua lake. Zebra mussels fowl up the
food chain, by eating up microscopic plants that usually feed fish. The
striped clam like zebra mussels can cause millions of dollars in
environmental property damage.
