Church Property Tax Laws Changed

The state supreme court ruled that school and municipal property taxes can
not be levied on church parking lots because they are vital to church
operations.

The case concerned the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dauphin County, and
could save church across the state millions of dollars.

The decision overturns a 1959 ruling saying that only church buildings were
tax-exempt.
