Cameron County is shrinking, according to a new report highlighted by the Associated Press. The county population dropped by more than 5 thousand people since the year 2000, a total of about 5 percent. In the past hundred years, the population has stayed close to the same. Some have said the decline, which has been a trickle since the population peaked in 1960, is a temporary dip.

Check your figures. If Cameron County shrunk by 5,000 people, it would be a ghost county.
