The Northwest Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau is finalizing preparations for the fifth annual Elk Expo, which will offer plenty of things to do for the entire family. The event will be held Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23 and 24, on the Elk County Fairgrounds near Kersey, which is southwest of St. Marys. The two-day festival is centered around the local elk herd, and the great outdoors within Pennsylvania's big woods. The Expo will feature an elk taxidermy demonstration, educational displays, craft and art booths, good food, and a marketplace with the latest in outdoor gear. Master sand sculptor Chuck Feld will present "How to Build a Sand Castle" and Gene "Chili Pepper" Roberts, from Dallas, Texas, will hold a chili-cooking demonstration, along with many other activities for the entire family.
