Olean School Superintendent Mark Ward says that, because of high fuel costs,
the district has no choice but to shut down the heating systems in all
schools after 3 p.m.
He told the school board during Tuesday night's meeting that if the district
used the same amount of fuel as last year, it would cost an addition 238
thousand dollars.
Earlier in the school year, Olean and Bradford school districts turned the
school thermostats down to cut costs.
