Emporium borough council signed a garbage agreement that would service over the next three years at Monday's meeting.
"We will defiantly have two years of cost savings," noted Borough Manager Rob Aversa. "We are guaranteed these rates for three years."
The extended contract with Onyx Waste Management calls the borough to pay $39.90 per ton for residential garbage disposal for the first year. It would increase to $42.33 by the third year.
Emporium's garbage is hauled to the Greentree Landfill, which is owned by Onyx, outside of town by borough employees.
