Two Port Allegany men were injured in a crash in Keating Township Monday. Penny McGarvey lost control of her vehicle on Route 155, striking an embankment and rolling onto its roof. 54-year-old Passenger Robert Lawrence and 84-year-old Paul Evans both were taken to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Disaster recovery assistance in Pennsylvania as a result of this summer’s hurricane related flooding sits at over 96 million dollars. 143 thousand dollars in funding made its way to Cameron County, Potter County flood victims received 13 thousand dollars.
A Coudersport woman was injured while driving in Eulalia Township. 19-year-old Jamie Tilley lost control around a curve on State Route 44, striking an embankment. Tilley was transported via ambulance to Cole Memorial Hospital for treatment.
A shed and car on Bark Shanty Road was struck by a vehicle. The accident occurred in Keating Township when George Polopoulos of Austin lost control, left the roadway and ran into a parked Ford Escort, pushing it into a shed. Polopoulous and his passenger, 76 year old Freda Tompkins were uninjured, but both vehicles received severe damage.
69 Year old Thomas Lee Bennett of Roulette died in a house fire early
Saturday morning. The cause of the fire was found out to be a faulty
extension cord under a carpet, which set the house ablaze. Mr. Bennett's
wife, Irene "Fay" Bennett escaped the blaze without any injury. The fire
was prevented from spreading further to neighboring homes.
