State Police rolled to Loucks mills Road in Pike Township to investigate a crash. 30-year-old Phillip Tubbs of Mills lost control and rolled his Ford Truck over an embankment. He received minor injuries and was treated at Charles Cole Memorial.
An accident was reported in Costello Wednesday. 63 year old Evan David was driving an 04 Chevy Silverado along Route 872 when he lost control on a curve and struck an embankment. David’s passenger, 62 year old Judith David recived minor injuries in the crash.
State Police were called to the village of Hebron Center to the scene of a 2 vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.. 43 year old Ruth Kinchen lost control on slippery snow roads as she traveled too quickly through a curve, and rear ended a 2002 Olds Alero GX. Kinchen received minor injuries her 2 year old passenger was not injured.
A Genesee man faces indecent exposure charges after exposing himself to three female juveniles, ages 12, 9, and 8 in Bingham Township. December 6, 26 year old Bryan Lewis Daniels allegedly pulled his truck over and pulled down his pants and masturbated in front of the girls.
He was arraigned March 23 on charges of indecent exposure, corruption of minors, open lewdness, and disorderly conduct, and released on $5,000 bail, and is to have no contact with the children.
A Coudersport woman was injured in a Ulysses Crash Wednesday. 24-year-old Michelle Crawford reported neck pain after she slid her 93 Chevy Cavalier off te road an slammed into a culvert. The impact deflated her tire, and she started up an embankment, and then crossed the roadway, ending up in a field. Crawford was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
The Eldred World War II museum will remember the 60th Anniversary of the landing at Okinawa by inviting a World War II veteran and author to speak. Donald Dencker, who wrote “Love Company – Infantry Combat Against the Japanese, World War II”, an account of his military experiences with the 96th infantry division, will speak, Friday, April 1st at the Museum at 6 p.m. A program on the history Channel April 1st will also feature an interview with Dencker.
After examining samples from hunter-killed elk during the state’s 2004 hunting season, Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Vern Ross reports no sign of chronic wasting disease. Samples were collected from 32 of the 34 elk killed in the 2004 season. Also, samples were taken from more than 3,600 randomly selected hunter-killed deer from the two-week rifle deer season. The Game Commission still is awaiting the results of the deer samples collected during the 2004 seasons. In 2003, the agency collected samples from more than 2,000 hunter-killed deer, and all results came back negative for CWD. No confirmed or suspected cases of CWD have currently been reported in Pa.
A Port Allegany man charged with abuse of his infant son will have a preliminary hearing April 15 in front of District Judge James Miller. 20-year old Timothy Maben is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Maben allegedly caused serious injury to his son between December 24th and January 31st by shaking and roughly handling the infant. More incidents allegedly occurred between February 1st and 9th. According to medical reports from a Danville Hospital, the infant has extensive brain injury and has lost his sight and some of his hearing from the alleged abuse. The hearing was originally scheduled for March 21st but was moved to allow a larger time frame for the hearing to be completed.
An incident of theft was reported Oswayo Township. State Police say a known suspect entered the residence of William Morgart II on March 11 and stole several items. Police continue to investigate.
A CBS 60 Minutes documentary featured an Elk County business recently, but not necessarily in a favorable light. The documentary featured an Albanian who purchased a 50-caliber rifle from the Elk County Ammo and Arms Store.
That gun, along with several others purchased legally from gun stores in the US were taken to Kosovo and given to the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Florin Karniqi, the Albanian who purchased the gun says the US is an ideal place for terrorist groups to stock up on arms and ammunition.
The Store owner says there was nothing illegal about the sale.
In the parking lot of Northwoods Tavern in Eulalia Township Saturday, 31 year old Kalina Pekarski of Coudersport was struck by a vehicle door, causing her minor injury. State Police are conducting an investigation. Anyone who was present or observed this incident, is encouraged to contact the barracks in Coudersport.
Host Families are needed for the Junior High IU9 Band festival in Otto-Eldred. The festival, held April 4th through 5th is in need of families who can take one or two band students overnight.
Applications are being acepted for a workship geared toward career development.
Opportunity Knocks (OK) is a free program funded by an Earmark Grant and run by the Potter County Education Council with referrals and assistance from other county agencies. It consists of a 6-week (210 hour) training session to run Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM. Child care and travel assistance will be available to eligible participants.
The focus of this program is to match eligible individuals who show a strong potential for succeeding in higher education with the future employment needs of Potter County which include, but are not limited to, careers in education and health care.
The Galeton session will begin with orientation on April 13 and will then run from 9AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday from April 18th through May 27th. The classes will be held at the Potter County Education Council Galeton office located at 35 Main Street.

A Port Allegany Man pleaded guilty to drug charges this week in Potter County Court. 42-year-old Michael Walters was arrested in July of 2002 by Coudersport Police after an informant set up a purchase of prescription pain killers from Walters.
A Knoxville man pleaded guilty in Potter County Court last week. 21 year old Rodney Connelly was arrested for public drunkenness and resisting arrest for a September incident. After State Troopers responded to a complaint of an ATV runner through Harrison Valley, Police discovered an intoxicated Connolly. While Police attempted to take him into custody, he became enraged and spit a cigarette butt in the face of one of the officers, using obscene language.
A Coudersport woman will pay a thousand dollar fine and spend one year on probation. 20-year-old Tract Fry was arrested in October for for providing alcohol to five juveniles.
The Accelerated Rehabilitation Program is keeping busy in Potter County. Several people were admitted to the program recently. 28-year-old Christopher McManus of Perryopolis was arrested for DUI in Coudersport on November 28.
28-year-old Jon Reaman of New Tripoli was arrested in Abbot Township on July 4th, with a Blood Alcohol Content of .15 percent. Reaman was also found to be under the influence of Cocaine and marijuana.
36-Year-old Douglas Wingard was stopped in September 25 for DUI.
All Three men surrendered their Drivers Licenses and committed to 25 hours of community service.
