Lewis Run Borough officials want to get a new tipping fee. Frank Langianese
says he's contacted Rustick LLC at the McKean County Landfill to ask for the
same deal that Bradford receives, at 29 bucks a ton.

Rustick has been charging 48.50 a ton.

Lewis Run Officials are looking at taking the trash to another landfill if
Rustick won't cut them a deal.

Bradford may get more monies for historic preservation.
Main Street Manager Diane Dewalt says she has applied for grants through the
Preserve America Communities Program.
The program offers federal grants to communities to improve the downtown
area.
Dewalt says the grant she's applying for would help start another business
and market the downtown area for heritage tourism.

Officials have released the name of Bradford Regional Medical Center's New
Year's Baby.
Matthew Hunter Haynoski was born at 4:01 Wednesday. Matthew is the son of
Brittany Hatch and Gregory Haynoski of Limestone, NY.

In Potter County, the New Year's Baby was actually Babies.
Thomas and Emily Myers had triplets Tuesday.
The babies were due to be delivered in Elmira NY in February, but sudden
complications led to a quick delivery at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Myers is a nursing supervisor at the hospital.
Thomas Myers the Third, welcomed sisters Savannah and Sierra at the hands of
Dr. Celso Backes.
Potter County Merchants showered the family with gifts, in triplicate.

Police in Emporium are investigating a theft at the Department of
Conservation and Natural Resources office on Sizervile Road.
Police say someone damaged the flood lamp illuminating the Flag Pole at the
DCNR office, and then made off with the flags.

Four McKean County residents were in a car that rearended anther car in the
Potter County Village of Gold.
State Police say 22 year old Clifford Flillhart of Smethport rear ended a
Ford Explorer driven by 18 year old Rachel Howe of Genesee at the
intersection of Routes 49 and 449.
Fillhart was transporting Ashlee Fillhart, also of Smethport, Anthony Flint
or Port Allegany, and Eric Taylor of Lewis Run.
No injuries were reported.

A Fire destroyed a barn on West Valley Road in Norwich Township.

Police say a cow and several chickens were killed in the fire.

The barn, owned by Kenneth Dout of Smethport was a total loss. 15 thousand
dollars in damage is estimated.

Fire companies from Norwich, Smethport, Port Allegany, Eldred Township, and
Emporium fought the blaze.

Bradford Regional Medical Center's cardiology services patient offices are
all going to relocate to the Medical Arts Building.
Hospital president and CEO George Leonhardt says having the cardiologists in
the same building would be more convenient for the patients.
The Cardiology Clinic, that was on the fourth floor of the hospital, is now
at 199 Pleasant Street. That's the same building where BRMC's new
cardiologist Dr. Steven Hermann is practicing.

A Smethport man was charged after an SUV he was driving hit a pedestrian
Tuesday afternoon in Olean.
Police say 63-year-old Mary Kline of Olean was crossing State and Union
streets when Thomas Hewitt's SUV hit her.
She was treated for a hip injury at Olean General Hospital.

Limestone residents are still pleading with the school board to keep the
elementary school opened.
Former Limestone school board member Louis Lucco said that when the Allegany
and Limestone school districts merged in 1995, Limestone residents were
assured that the school would stay opened for the foreseeable future.
Consultants have said that the district would save about 282 thousand
dollars in one year if it's closed.
The board is expected to make a decision on February 21st.

Judge John Cleland has ruled in favor of the DBRC in the feud over over
Roger Feura's building downtown.
Cleland issued an order Friday that ruled that the charges against Feura for
violation of a deed condition, and the Pennsylvania Uniform Fraudulent
Transfer Act would continue.
The charges of trespassing against Feura were dismissed, because Feura is
the actual owner of the building.
It's his right to own the building that is in dispute.

A New labor union has been approved for court related employees. The Court
Related Unit represents the employees, who are still working without a
collective bargaining agreement. Negotiations to hammer out a contract are
set for February 13.

Despite objections, Port Allegany Borough Council agreed to purchase a 32
thousand dollar tornado-warning siren.
Port Allegany Mayor Joe Demott says he's opposed to the action.
Council members Dave Fair and Bill Burleson both expressed concern and
questions over the siren as well.

A Bradford woman was arraigned before District Judge Rich Luther.
22-year-old Beth Lewis is charged with identity theft and conspiracy for a
September incident.

Court Documents say that Lewis, along with two others allegedly tried to
return stolen cosmetics to Walmart, using identification belonging to Joanna
Hendryx.
The trio had no receipt for the cosmetics, so they allegedly obtained a
Wal-Mart gift card, which was used to purchase a vacuum cleaner.
Lewis then allegedly returned the vacuum cleaner, with the receipt, and
received cash.
Court documents allege the cash was used to buy drugs.
Lewis was released after her arraignment.

McKean County Commissioner John Egbert was renamed as chairman at Tuesday's
reorganizational meeting.
Egbert will serve as chairman until Clifford Lane takes over September 2.

Commissioners resolved to rotate the chairman after the 2003 "New
Directions" team was elected.

The SW Smith Library in Port Allegany has outgrown itself.
Library board president Marjorie Healy spoke to the Port Allegany Borough
Council last night, and let them know it would be no more expensive to get a
new building rather than to add on to the Church Street Facility.
Officials are looking at the site of the Evangelical United Methodist Church
in Port Allegany for a possible new building.

A Smethport Borough Council President has been named.
Council met last night for it's annual reorganization meeting, after Greg
Rounsville, Paul Raymond, Ed Althouse, Patty Witchen, and Josh Costa took
their oaths to serve as Council members, they voted Rounsville as council
president.
Brian Gustafson was named vice president.

Lewis Run Boro Council met Tuesday and swore in a few council members.
Albert Montecalvo, Frank Langianese, Dianne DeCasper, and Joe Cucuzzq to
boro council last night.
Despite swearing in Cucuzza, we turned in a resignation letter from council.
He'll continue to serve though, as a borough employee.

State police have filed charges in connection with an alleged assault at the
county jail.
Troopers say 19-year-old Darryl Sherlock is accused of punching 42-year-old
Terry Isadore in the head several times.

Three Bradford City Councilmen were sworn in this morning at city hall.
Bob Onuffer is the first Democrat to serve on council in several years.
Sworn in with Onuffer were new councilman Tom Riel and returning councilman
Tom Shay.
Shay is the only one of three council members up for re-election to retain
his seat.
Before adjourning today's brief meeting, Mayor Michele Corgignani told Riel
and Onuffer that she's sure they are both there to do what's in the best
interest of the community.

National Fuel has made its annual purchased gas cost filing with the
Pennsylvania Public utilities commission, and if you think this winter was
bad for fuel prices, next winter is not projected to be any better.
National Fuel is requesting an increase in gas cost expense. The average gas
customer will see an increase of 8.5 percent next winter.

That projected increase could go down, as rates are reviewed quarterly.

A Bradford resident was injured in a crash in Liberty Township Monday.
Police say 22-year-old David Lipps lost control while passing a vehicle on
Route 155, striking a utility pole. Lipps' passenger, 20-year-old Casey
Abbot received minor injuries.
Police cited Lipps for driving too fast on wet roadways, and for driving
with tires in poor condition.

A 15 year old boy and a sixteen year old girl in Genesee township are under
investigation for hitting an 11 year old.

State Troopers report the pair swore at and used obscene gestures toward the
11 year old boy, and then hit him in the eye and temple.
Both teens were cited with harassment.

The McKean County Sheriff's office may be getting a new start, but most of
the current staff will stay on to serve with the new sheriff.
According to published reports, only one part time deputy has retired, and
he is staying on temporarily as a favor to new county sheriff Brad Mason.

The University of Pittsburgh and Bradford will have a downtown presence
again, this time, a prominent building was given as a gift.
Dr. Robert and Mary B. Weiss of Warren gave the 6-story Seneca Building to
the university in memory of Dr. Paul. Keverline who worked with Weiss in
the building before he died in a plane crash in t 2002.
The building is valued at $1.2 million.

The gift is the largest real estate gift the university has ever received,
and it's one of the five largest outright donations they've ever received in
it's 42 year history.

The Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Health Department is going to start
tracking an infection that doesn't respond well to antibiotics.
The staph infection, known as MRSA, is found mostly in hospitals, nursing
homes and jails, but health care workers think it may be moving into the
general population.
Two female inmates at the Allegheny County Jail died of the infection last
year, and more than 24 guards and other inmates contracted it.
It has also been reported among high school football players and other
groups who are in close contact.

Police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief at the Willow Bay
Boat launch that left a couple toilets clogged.
Police say sometime Saturday, someone entered the boat launch, damaged a
screen on one of the cabins, then stuffed the toilets with toilet paper.
Police say they have no suspects.

A Galeton man has been arrested as a Fugitive from justice on Wednesday
according to a report released by the State police in Coudersport. John
Malaczewski was taken into custody for a New Jersey warrant for several
firearms violations. Malaczewski was placed in Potter County Jail without
bail and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

A Kane teen-ager wasn't hurt when her car went out of control on Route 6
near Wildcat Road, then hit the guard rails at about 9 o'clock Sunday
morning.

Police say 18-year-old Adrienne Lee will be charged with driving at an
unsafe speed.

A report has been released stating that there was a burglary at the Roulette
Fish and Game Club sometime Thursday night or Friday morning. State police
are saying that an unknown person used blunt force to get into the camp and
opened cabinet doors and forced loose a cash drawer. Nothing was reported
missing and if anyone has any information on the incident they are asked to
contact the State police barracks in Coudersport.

A Coudersport man has told police that he had received a verbal threat over
the phone on Friday according to a police report. The residence of Joseph
Dubots allegedly received a phone call in the early morning on Thursday
threatening the lives and property of the residents. If anyone has any
information they are asked to contact the state police barracks in
Coudersport.

State Troopers in Kane are releasing a report of Driving Under the Influence
by a Kane man in the borough of Kane on Friday. Dennis Rockwell was stopped
for not using his turn signal and was determined to be intoxicated during
the traffic stop. Rockwell was taken to the Kane Hospital for a blood
alcohol test. Charges of DUI, traffic violations, and careless driving are
being filed.

The Coudersport state police have reported a Burglary in Harrison Township
of Potter County in the month of December. The police are investigating the
incident at the residence of Alfonso Manini on Bonsall Avenue in Sharon Hill
PA. The unknown person removed items as yet to be determined. Anyone with

A Bradford woman is being charged with several drug charges yesterday.
Theresa Grove was remanded to the McKean County Jail for the drug charges.
A 16-year-old girl reportedly contacted police saying that between January
2003 and November 2005 Grove had supplied her with crack cocaine, allowing
the girl to smoke it in front of Grove. The girl is currently undergoing
treatment for an addiction to the drug. The Youth allegedly also told
police that Grove had given her Oxycotin in which she sold for cash. Grove
was arraigned and was remanded to jail in Lieu of ten thousand dollars bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for January 25 in front of incoming Judge
Dominic Cercone.

The Lewis Run borough has passed a 2006 budget with no increase in taxes at
the special Friday meeting. However there are proposed raises to items such
as the Emergency Services tax to $40. The former Occupational Privilege tax
will be voted on, on January 26. a one dollar a month increase is also
being implemented to the water fee for maintenance and repair needs. The
borough reports that they have not heard from the Pennsylvania Department of
Environmental Protection regarding a test on the borough water wells that
were conducted on December 20.

The North Central Regional Planning and Development Commission's executive
board director Ron Kuleck has resigned from his position after 32 years of
service. A special executive meeting was held yesterday in which the board
chairman John Torok of potter county opened the meeting and immediately
asked for an executive session that lasted 3 hours to vote on Kuleck's
resignation request. Deputy Directors Howard Glessner, Mike Lawrence and
Donald Masisak are currently overseeing Kuleck's responsibuilities.

McKean County Judge John Yoder presided when oaths of office were given to
county and local officials at a special session yesterday. President Judge
John Cleland, Dominic Cercone Jr., Richard Luther Jr., and William Todd were
all given oaths.

Judge Yoder administered the oaths to McKean County President Judge John
Cleland, Michael Kennedy of Kane in his second term as district judge of
Kane, Mount Jewett, and Hamlin boroughs as well as Hamilton and Wetmore
Townships. Dominic Cercone Jr. will serve his first term as District Judge
for the city of Bradford. Richard Luther Jr. is the new district Judge for
Bradford, Foster, Corydon and Otto townships as well as the Lewis Run
Borough. William Todd was the other member who is also taking office for
the first time in the district that will preside over Port Allegany,
Smethport, and Eldred boroughs as well as Annin, Lafayette, Norwich,
Keating, Liberty, Eldred and Sergeant townships.

Area artists may start submitting their work to the Elk County Council on
the Arts for a display and auction being held in conjunction with February's
Chainsaw Carver's Rendezvous.

The event is not a competition but rendezvous organizers say one work of art
will be selected to be the base for a future logo for the rendezvous.

Artwork will be displayed at the Ridgway Welcome Center, Elk County Council
on the Arts Gallery, and other area locations.

Anyone may enter. The deadline is February 14th.

Want a turkey? Take Two.

The Pennsylvania State Game Commission will allow for an addition turkey
hunting tag this year, after a look at the population indicates the turkey
flock can be thinned out a bit.

Licenses for 2006 are available until April 1.

One of Potter County's most popular attractions is under threat by new snake
laws.

The Cross Fork Snake Hunt is facing extinction as laws could increase the
snake hunting license fees, limit participation to just one hunt a year, as
well as prohibit the possession of any rattler under 42 inches, and the
prohibition of the import of any timber rattlers.

The last prohibition would affect the popular sacking contest. Officials in
Cross Fork are calling for public opposition to the Fish and Game
Commission's decision.

37 year old Christopher Ausherman struck a Bradford City Police officer
while the officer tried to keep him from harming himself.

A Krishna couple in Angelica NY are continuing the fight to keep their
sacred cows.
Steve and Linda Voith had six cows on their property, within village limits.
They were forced to remove the cows, as village officials say farm animals
are nmot permitted to be kept within the village limits.
The couple says the law is full of religious bigotry.
The cows are boarding in a Pennsylvania Cow Sanctuary while the Voith's
fight to keep them.

An 88-year-old East Smethport man was sentenced to two years probation for
corruption of minors and indecent assault. Court records say the elderly man
had indecent contact with a child from the time she was 12 until she was 17.

A Kane man was fined 750 dollars for criminal trespass and public
drunkenness.

19-year-old Craig Neely was arrested for petting a dog through a window at a
home in Kane. Neely told the court he was drunk, and thought he was at his
own house.

State Police in Potter County found a Bradford man's wallet, and can't seem
to find him.

Troopers say they found a wallet belonging to Dustin Stafford of South
Avenue.

They've tried contacting Stafford to return the wallet, but have been
unsuccessful.

They ask that anyone who has information about Stafford's whereabouts to
give them a call.

Traffic was shut down heading into Coudersport December 29 as a truck driven
by a Wellsboro man crashed on Route 6.
State Troopers say Brian Martin Booth lost control and struck an embankment,
rolling onto the roadway, pinching off traffic for about 45 minutes.

An Ohio teen was cited after he got into trouble with his Global Positioning
System.
Police say 19-year-old Naseeb Michael Kaleel was traveling on Route 446 in
Eldred, navigating with his GPS unit. Police say Kaleel was lost, and
passing cars, driving at a high rte of speed, and fiddling with his brand
new GPS when he lost control and struck a guardrail, just as he ran out of
gas.
Police say Kaleel's accident occurred because of careless driving, speed,
and an inexperienced operator.

A 16-year-old girl who allegedly stole a vehicle early Wednesday morning in
Bradford is expected to face multiple charges.

City police say that after stealing the car, the girl hit and damaged four
vehicles that were parked along School Street.

Police did not identify the girl because of her age, but did say they
apprehended her after she fled the scene on foot.

The Bradford man who shot at a school bus on Bolivar Drive says it was a
foolish mistake and he regrets doing it.

21-year-old John Buscemi was sentenced to 1 to 2 years at SCI Albion. Judge
John Yoder also ordered him to pay restitution to the Bradford Area School
District, and to the McKean County Jail, for breaking a sprinkler off the
wall while he was incarcerated there.

Police have confirmed that the body found near the Allegheny River, just off
South Nine Mile Road Wednesday afternoon is Barbara Fowler.
Fowler had been missing since December 1st.
State police trooper Steven Coppola discovered the body in an area that had
been covered by river water during the initial search.
An autopsy will be performed at Erie County Medical Center to determine the
cause of the 59-year-old's death.
