Coudersport Native and Pitt Bradford Graduate Pat Ryan died of a drug and
alcohol overdose, according to Forest County Coroner Norman Wimer.
The 30 year old disappeared mysteriously, and was found miles from his home
in a remote area.
Though the overdose is listed as the cause of death, Wimer says the death is
still mysterious, and may or may not have been a homicide.
Wimer alleges that someone knows how Ryan died, and no family should have to
suffer the way the Ryan family has. He urges anyone with information to come
forward.

Forty year old, South Carolina resident, Wayne Dennis appeared yesterday
before McKean County Judge John Yoder. For failing to register under Megan
s Law while he was staying at a motel in Kane while doing construction work.
He was sentenced to one year probation and is to take steps to transfer his
probation to South Carolina.
Thirty-one year old Timothy Major appeared yesterday before McKean County
Judge John Yoder on charges of burglary, theft and receiving stolen
property. He allegedly obtained a dump truck from Recycle All in Port
Allegany and obtained two loads of topsoil without permission. He is
scheduled for sentencing on December 15, 2005.
The McKean County Fair association is working on a deal with a new Ride
vendor. Bates Amusements of Winterville Ohio will sign the contract with the
fair next week. Te new ride vendor will allow the fair to be held August 14
through 19.
Congressman John Peterson is reminding area seniors to sign up for the new
Medicare prescription system.
The new drug program will allow seniors to meet the cost of necessary
medication, according to Peterson.
The official sign up period for the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit
started yesterday, Seniors who sign up before December 31, 2005, will get
coverage beginning January 1.
A Ridgway police officer has been found guilty of breaking state game laws.
Office Joe Manno did not appear in court Monday, and was convicted in
abstention of shooting a deer on Route 219 on a dare.
The other officer involved was suspended form the force for thirty days.

Bradford Regional Medical Center is offering a new technology. Officials
announced the acquisition Tuesday of Positron Emission Tomogrphy services.
The service offers early and highly accurate detection of cancer,
neurological, a nd cardiac diseases.
The services will b available through physician referrals starting Friday,
and will be available every other week.
An open house tour is set from 8-11 Friday at the Imaging Services
Department.
Robert Kelly of Smethport called State Police to say that someone stole his
18 year old daughters laptop from their home in Keating Township.
The incident occurred sometime between August and October.
Police are investigating.
Timber revenues are on their way into the county, but paperwork has the
process grinding to a halt. More than 1 and a half million dollars in Title
Three funding from Allegheny National Forest receipts was set to come in to
five county organizations, but the funds are held up on how the Penn State
Extension office plans to use the funds.
The money by law is required to be earmarked for forestry education. The
Extension office has been pondering hiring a 4H staff person with the funds.

Commissioners continued to discuss the Solid Waste Authority in last nights
meeting. Hamlin Township, and vocal critic of the current regime Bill
Belitskus says that the commissioners November 5th meeting wasnt legal, and
that the resolution made to halt the SWAs disbursal of funds should be
re-ratified.
County officials say the money the SWA gave out belongs to them, and should
not have been given to any other municipalities.
The issue has been on hold while lawyers scour the documents to determine
the course of action.
Kane Borough Council is already planning to use the money from the Solid
Waste Authority. The proposed 2006 budget needed about 35 thousand to swing
it into balance. Council proposes using the landfill sale money.
35 thousand is about 21 percent of the total 168 thousand received by Kane.
County Commissioners are trying to get the money back.
Kane says the money is in an interest bearing account until its clear
whether they will get to keep it or not.
A Port Allegany man tells state police that he received a harassing letter
from a known female this week.
49-year-old Michael Dean Winston says hes also received harassing phone
calls from the same woman.
Police are continuing their investigation.
Titusville police and state police say they cant battle the methamphetamine
problem alone, and theyre asking for the publics help.
During a meeting at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, law
enforcement officials said meth is a rapidly growing problem in the area and
people are preparing the drug in homes, hotel rooms, campers, shacks, barns
and wooded areas.
41 meth labs were found in Crawford County last year, and 11 were found in
Venango County, according to Titusville police office William Dilley.
Business owners can report suspicious sales, including a large amount of the
items needed to make meth. They can write down a suspect's description and
get a license plate number.
Residents and property owners should pay attention to see if there are a lot
of people coming and going from nearby houses, especially at odd hours of
the day. Also someone cooking meth may have a large amount of garbage,
things like empty chemical containers.
State Representative Martin Causer is reminding people who may be struggling
with home heating bills that they can now apply for Pennsylvanias Low
Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Eligible residents can submit applications through March 23, or until
funding runs out.

Two Clarion County Jail inmates escaped Saturday and were on the loose for
about 10 hours before being apprehended in the New Bethlehem and East Brady
areas.

Officials say 18-year-old David Fabiszewski of Parker may have been
motivated by the death of his father, because he asked for a furlough to be
with his family, and it was denied.
18-year-old Nathan G. Watkins of New Bethlehem escaped with Fabiszewski.
Officials say the men gained access to the roof of the county prison, then
jumped either over or onto a razor wire-topped fence.
After being captured, Watkins was treated at Clarion Hospital for cuts he
allegedly got from the razor wire. Fabiszewski was treated for an ankle
injury he allegedly suffered while jumping from the prison roof.
The men are both jailed on unrelated burglary charges. Charges are pending
in relation to the escape.
The Clarion County Sheriffs office is investigating the possibility someone
outside the prison might have helped the men escape.
The men were last seen shortly after the escape near Wolfs Auto Outlet in
their prison clothes. They were found in street clothes.
Clarion County Chief deputy Sheriff Barry Troutman said the inmates orange
prison shirts were found near a Paint Township trailer park.
Police used scent detection dogs from the St. Marys area, but say the trail
ended abruptly in a parking lot, leading them to believe someone was waiting
for them there.
When police spotted them, they set up a roadblock, which Fabiszewski avoided
by driving off the main road, and onto a narrow dirt road, where he hit a
pallet that got stuck under the truck he was driving and stopped the
vehicle.
He was then taken into custody. While that chase was going on, a Clarion
County sheriffs deputy found Watkins hiding in a storage shed and he was
arrested.
A Child Safety seat checkpoint is set for next Monday, 11/21 at the
Coudersport State Police Barracks.
The checkpoint is meant to help parents inspect and install safety seats.
An Eldred woman received minor injuries in a Potter County Crash
20 year old Kendra Mesler was driving along Route 44 in Shinglehouse when
became distracted and struck a guard rail with her Chevy Cavalier.
The vehicle then went up an embankment and rolled over. Shinglehouse Fire
and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
A Bradford man faces charges after a Bordell Cross Road accident.
State Police say 58-year-old John Kohler failed to negotiate a curve. His
vehicle then went into a spin, then went off the road and hit a concrete
wall before coming to rest in a yard.
Police allege Kohler left the scene without notifying authorities.
Portvilles Whooping cough outbreak is under control. But a confirmed case
at Bolivar Richburg and five suspected cases at Franklinville High are
keeping Cattaragus County Health Officials scrambling.
More than 40 cases of the highly contagious illness were confirmed in
Portville last month.
The Cattaraugus County Health Department gave more than 150 Boostrix
vaccinations to help curb the outbreak.

a debate, saying there has been enough mud-slinging, and not its time to
talk about the issues.

A Bull Elk jumped out in front of a Renovo man as he drove in Benezette
Township this weekend. State Police say the man was not hurt in the incident
on Dents Run Road, but charges are pending.
Bradford Area School board signed a new transportation deal last night.
After laying off current transportation director John Matthews, Board member
August Freda suggested signing on with National transportation firm Laidlaw
Incorporated at a cost of 97 thousand dollars for the rest of the school
year.
Laidlaw is the largest firm of its kind in the nation.
Board members said the move was made to cut costs.
Superintendent Sandra Romanowski was unavailable for comment.
Apparently federal officials agree that this area needs a boost to get
nature tourism up and running. Us Congressman John Peterson says funds have
been released from the US Department of Energy and the Army Corps of
Engineers to make improvements to the Visitors Center at the Kinzua Dam.
The final 2006 appropriations bill provides a total of $300,000 for the
improvements, and to improve build handicapped accessible fishing areas at
the reservoir.
With improvements at the Wolf Run Marina, and Allegheny National Forest
Campgrounds, Peterson says more tourists could be drawn to the area.

The average Pennsylvania airfare has dropped 26 percent since 2000,
according to PennDot secretary Allen Biehler, who launched the site. He says
thats one of the largest declines of any state.
Fifteen-year-old Courtney McClure of McConnellsburg was one of just 10 lucky Pennsylvania hunters to win the lottery drawing for a license to hunt bull elk in Cameron County. Last Tuesday, Nov. 8, she made good on her tag, bagging a 7 X 7 bull elk weighing 564 pounds with just a single shot.
The McConnellsburg freshman used a 7mm Winchester short magnum rife to fell her quarry, making her the youngest female ever to harvest a Pennsylvania bull elk. The first woman to bag a bull elk was Janet Guber, 42, of Ellwood City, who shot a bull opening day in 2003, in Elk County.
Although the only one with an elk tag, Courtney was accompanied on the hunting expedition by her brother, Nick, and her parents. They stayed at the Elk Mountain Homestead in Benezette, where they were the guests of Jerry and Beverly Schickling of Lone Pine Outfitters.
Pennsylvania reinstituted elk hunting in 2001 and awards licenses by lottery drawing. More than 48,000 hunters vied for 10 antlered and 30 antlerless licenses. The Pennsylvania elk herd is estimated at about 800.
Courtney received word that she had won in the drawing for antlered elk the evening of September 24, just one day before her 15th birthday September 25.
The County Board of elections has certified the county?s election results. Director of Elections Judy Ordiway says Tom Shay, Tom Riel and Bob Onuffer have been certified as the official vote getters in last week?s election. Ross Neidich was unseated by seven votes.

Kane state police are investigating an act of harassment in Lewis Run.
They say someone called the victim several times between 12:30 and 2:20 this morning.
Police are continuing their investigation, and say more information will be released at a later date.
Coudersport state police are investigating a theft and an attempted theft.
Sometime between November 5th and Saturday, someone tried to take a propane tank from Michael Patrick Donnelly?s property in Mills.
On Saturday, someone also climbed a deer stand from Joseph Earl Hanes? property in Mills.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact state police.
63-year-old Ronald P. Repiscak of Brockport allegedly pushed 69-year-old Claudia A. Wallace into a chair at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Coudersport state police say harassment charges will be filed against Repiscak.
