The Coudersport Falcons continued their winning ways Friday night with a double-overtime victory (48-42) over Kennedy Catholic. The Falcons now advance to the Western Regional Finals where they will face Duquesne. (Time and place yet to be determined.)
According to Zitomedia, the Coudy-Kennedy game will be shown several times on the local community channel this weekend.

Editor's Note: I just received this in my email...

Jeff Fessenden and Daniel Reilly, both of Roulette, were called up by FEMA
(Federal Emergency Management Agency) on Friday November 4, 2005 and asked
to deploy for the assistance of the return of the disaster survivors. They
were only giving 72 hours to have everything packed and be gone for Orlando
Florida was they received 3 long days of training in several different
assistance classes. After they were release from Orlando, they were send to
Fort Meyer were they started CR (Community Relations) work in the Naples and
Marco Island area. About a week into the CR work they were diverted over to
the other side of the state were they are currently working. They are
covering these 4 counties, Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, and Indian River
County. They are part of the MHOPS Team. MHOPS (Mobile Home Operations)
They have went to several damaged dwellings, surveyed the area, determined
if the lot was feasible for a trailer, placed paperwork and within 72 hrs
had people without home, in a livable lifestyle again. Once they finish the
counties they are in they will be moving further south. This was all part
of the hurricane Wilma disaster.

Congressman John Peterson has announced money has come in for the Lumber
Museum

A $200,000 federal grant came in to support an expansion project at the
museum on Route 6.

The facility plans to add a 10,000 square foot expansion to the visitor
center.

An Eldred man was not injured in a Portville Crash Sunday.
Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Deputies say 20-year-old Rodney Lewis fell
asleep behind the wheel and struck a rail road tie and a telephone pole
along Route 417.
Lewis was charged with failure to keep right.

The family of Patrick Ryan are still offering a reward for information about
their son. Ryan's Body was found in Forest County August 23, about a week
after he was last see at a bar in Clarion.
The Coudersport family is offering 10 thousand dollars for information
leading to the prosecution of anyone involved in their son's death.
Coroner's report that Ryan died as a result of a drug and alcohol overdose.
Police aren't sure how Ryan's body ended up in Forest County, and they have
not ruled out foul play.

An appeal has been filed in the Temple Inland lawsuit.
The suit against sensor manufacturer GreCon Electronics was recently thrown
out of McKean County President Judge John Cleland. The judge says the part
that failed did so because of normal wear and tear, not a defect

Four plaintiffs have filed for the appeal after being injured or losing
family members in the February 2001 explosion.

Bradford Man John Buscemi is back in jail. You might recognize him as the
infamous school bus shooter, that fired a pellet gun at a Bradford Area
School bus and the man who busted a sprinkler in his cell at the McKean
County jail, causing a flood.

He appeared in court Thursday, and pleaded guilty to parole violations.
Police say Buscemi has been charged with simple assault, violating is
curfew, and marijuana use.

Buscemi will lbe resetenced December 29.

A Smethport landmark is shutting its doors. America's First Christmas store
has been in business since 1935, but owners Greg and Dee Buchanan sent out
an invitation to local shoppers for a liquidation sale, claming the store
will be closing it's doors for ever.

The business is up for sale, and so far there have been no takers.
Shoppers come from all over the region to visit the Smethport store.

A Kane mother who stabbed her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend with a kitchen knife
was sentenced to 10 to 23 months in jail today in McKean County Court.
Judge John Yoder gave 19-year-old Danielle Gullifer credit for time served,
then ordered than she serve the remainder of her sentence on house arrest.
Gullifer accepted a plea deal earlier this month, in which she admitted to
aggravated assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury, rather than
attempted homicide.
She stabbed the 17-year-old when he showed up to take their child for
visitation.

A Shinglehouse woman crashed after swerving to miss a deer Monday morning
just inside the Potter County border. State Police say 20-year-old KaSandra
Goodrich lost control of a truck after striking a culvert the truck rolled
onto its roof. Goodrich was taken to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital by
Roulette Ambulance.

Deer season opens next week. Hunters in the Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative
are encouraged to bring their deer to the check station. A legal antlered
deer will earn hunters a raffle ticket for a chance at a rifle, or other
prizes.

Checking Stations will be located at the Warehouse Inn , the Willows, and
the Westline Inn.

One hundred and fifteen bruins were brought in yesterday o the checkpoint at
Mt. Jewett.

The largest was a Shinglehouse bear, weighing in at 477 pounds dressed. A
406 pounder was pulled in from Lewis Run.
Game commission manager John Dzeyman says usually, the Mt. Jewett Check
station only sees 60-70 bear on the first day.

Bear harvested during this year's season are undergoing DNA testing. UPB
students were collecting tissue and fur samples for testing to be sent to
East Strousburg University.
The study will provide a detailed look at the DNA of Pennsylvania's black
bear population.

Bradford Township may or may not be two police officers short when January
rolls around.
Current officers Brad Mason and Rich Luther were elected sheriff and
district judge, respectively, but haven't turned in their resignations to
the township yet.
Supervisor Boo Coder said he has talked to both of them, and they both still
have some things to decide before resigning.

The supervisors agree that they will fill the positions with full-time
officers.

Bradford Township will continue receiving ambulance service from the City of
Bradford.
During their meeting last night, supervisors decided to stick with the city
instead of going with another service.
Foster and Lafayette townships already decided to stick with the city
service.
Lewis Run officials voted not to go with the city, but haven't made it clear
which ambulance service borough residents will use.

The Zippo/Case Visitors Center is sponsoring a Hunters Appreciation Day from

No one was hurt in an accident at about 10 p.m. Sunday when a bear crossed
the road on Route 6, about a mile west of Port Allegany.
State police say 20-year-old Amanda Freer of Austin swerved to miss a bear,
then traveled off the road and hit an embankment.

The Potter County Conservation District was awarded a one hundred and 30
thousand dollar grant to install a power line on behalf of the Four Winds
Farm, a 400-head dairy farm.

The money will be used to install a three-phase power line on behalf of the

An indoor water park and hotel in Allegany County is one step closer to
completion.
The project is expected to cost about 30 million dollars, and officials say
that at least 80 percent of the funding has been secured or will be soon.
The park and hotel will be at the intersection of I-86 and Route 19.

Two family pets died in a fire Sunday afternoon on Kennedy Street.
Firefighters say the blaze started in the basement at 158 Kennedy, then
spread through the house, causing severe damage.
City firefighter Chris Angell fell through the first floor and into the
basement when he walked in the house to fight the blaze, and was treated for
injuries at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

A Coudersport man accused of slapping a four-year-old girl across the side
of his face was charged with simple assault and harassment.

Police say 29-year-old Michael Dee Bryant was arraigned, then released on
five thousand dollars bail.

Bradford Regional Medical Center officials announced last week that the
fiscal year for last year ended in the black.
BRMC President and chief executive officer George E. Leonhardt says the
hospital is moving in the right direction. The 2003 –2004 year ended with a
1.2 million deficit.

The 2004-2005 year shows a half a million-dollar profit.

Injured Air force dog handler Jamie Himes Dana is trying to keep her dog.
Dana was featured in a front page Washington post article this week that
tells her struggle to get the Department of Defense to release her
bomb-sniffing partner Rex to her custody.

The Defense Department released Rex on leave, but it's not clear whether or
not Dana will be able to keep him.

A Coudersport man is in jail for allegedly threatening his wife with a gun.
Police say 28-year-old Jeffrey Brown followed Melinda Brown to the
neighbor's house, and pounded on the door, threatening to shoot her.

State Police arrested Brown with the help of Coudersport Boro Police, and
the Coudersport Ambulance.

An Emporium man was jailed after an incident in St. Mary's. 33-year-old
Edwin Welch is accused of assaulting a 17-year-old male from Warren after it
was discovered that the teen had allegedly stolen items from an apartment.
Welch was sent to Elk County prison for probation violations.

State Police were called to assist Potter County Human Services with a
patient Sunday.
An 18-year-old Coudersport man was placed in a human services vehicle for
transportation from Charles Cole Memorial Hospital.
Luke Russell then kicked out a window in the vehicle, and climbed outside.

Russell will be charged with criminal mischief. State Police took the young
man to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro.

A Duke Center man was killed Friday in a fiery crash on Hazel Hurst Hill.
State Police report 39 year old Donald Causer was driving east in a tanker
truck when the vehicle slid and rolled onto its roof.

The vehicle caught fire.

Mt. Jewett Fire Department responded to the scene to keep the gasoline blaze
at bay.

McKean County Coroner Mike Cahill says Causer died as a result of blunt
force trauma to the head.

State police in Kane are reporting an incident of Criminal mischief in
Rixford Friday night. Daniel Powers of Rixford told troopers that sometime
between 11pm Friday night and 8 am Sunday morning someone had struck his
mailbox with an ATV. Anyone with information about this incident are asked
to contact the State Police Barracks in Kane.

State Police are monitoring local roads during the holiday season. Governor
Ed Rendell says more than 300 departments will participate in the statewide
crackdown on speeding and seatbelt usage.

Studies show fewer drivers wear their seatbelts after the sun goes down, so
many of the traffic checks will take place after dark.
