Sentencing in the case of John and Timothy Rigas has been pushed back. Federal Judge Lenord Sand moved the sentencing date back to February 23rd, so attorneys can negotiate reparations of victims in the case The former Adelphia Executives were convicted of bank and wire fraud charges in July.

A Shinglehouse Teenager was sentenced to three years probation and placed in a treatment facility in Potter County Court. 17-year-old Chase Colbey was charges with homicide by vehicle after a DUI crash that claimed the life of 15-year-old Lucas Shall in August.

Port Allegany residents are about to get more bars on their cell phone signal meter... Verizon Wireless has announced the activation of a new cell site in Port Allegany. Upgrades to service in other parts of McKean County are taking place as well, to increase service along the Route 6 corridor. Service along Route 219 above Dubois has been upgraded as well.

A Potter County Male is under investigation by Coudersport-based State Police for theft by deception. The man allegedly stole a check from Paula McChesney of Shinglehouse and used it to obtain $35 from Jill Aikey, owner of the Shinglehouse Saloon.

Farmers in Southern New York are warned to watch out for cattle rustlers. New York State Troopers say dairy farmer Phil Pagett reported a three-week-old Holstein missing Monday from his farm in Dayton. Police say it appears someone broke into the barn to lift the calf. Farmer Pagget says the rising price of beef is plenty of motive for thieves to steal cows.

Kane Borough Council spoke harshly at a public meeting this week regarding Adelphia’s decision to close its Kane office. Three people lost work as a result of the decision. Adelphia plans to place a bill payment drop box in town, and handle service through another office.

Adelphia Communications have spoken up about the sale of the cable giant. The company faces a probable sale at the start of next year. Adelphia has received a number of prospective buyers. The decision to sell or emerge form bankruptcy as a stand-alone company is expected to be made in the early part of 2005.

Coudersport resident Courteney Moore was arraigned in front of District Justice Chris Hauser Wednesday night on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property for an incident at the Bradford Hotel. Moore was released on $2,500 bail, with a preliminary hearing set for December 29th.
