There's a hearing today in Potter County Court to dismiss district attorney
Jeff Leber's motion to have District Judge Annette Easton disqualified.

Easton's attorney Sam Stretton says he doesn't believe it's proper for Judge
John Leete to hear Leber's motion.

Leber is asking for Easton to be disqualified from hearing most criminal
matters, alleging that she has a list of police officers who have reported
her for misconduct, and that she calls Leber The Evil One

The McKean County Commissioners unveiled their 2006 budget during a special
meeting last night, and said it does not include a tax increase, but does
include creating two new county departments.

Next year's proposed 29 point one million dollar budget is actually less
than this year's, which was more than 31 million dollars.

The new departments that may be created are Economic Development, and Soil
and Water Conservation.

The commissioners also say they'll continue making improvements to the
county jail, and will be looking into enhancing the county human resources
department.

An Olean man was charged with third-degree rape and unlawful dealing with a
child on Tuesday night.
Police allege that 21-year-old Michael K. Beeler of 131 Fulton Street had
sex with someone under the age of 17, and gave alcohol to someone under the
age of 21.

The Allegany-Limestone School Board will decide on February 21st whether to
close the Limestone Elementary School.

The district will have several meetings between now and then to discuss the
issue.

In October, consultants recommended that the school be closed because of low
enrollment.

Also, the Olean School Board will have another meeting next month to discuss
closing a school.

The board says closing at least one of five elementary schools would save
the district 900 thousand dollars over three years.

Police arrested the man they believe was driving the SUV that hit and killed
Jason Knight on the day after Thanksgiving.

Knight’s body was found by a passer-by around 8:30 a.m. Nov. 28. Police
believe the 32-year-old's body might have been mistaken for a deer by
passing motorists. Knight was walking along State Route 157 in Pinegrove
Township, Venango County, after a vehicle he was a passenger in was in a
minor accident.

35-year-old Gregory C. Schwabenbauer of Tylersburg was arraigned December 2
on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death or personal
injury to another person. He was released on $50,000 unsecured bond.
Police say they cracked the case after the SUV was taken to a shop for
repairs.

Former Pittsburgh Steeler Lynn Swann is one step closer to declaring that
he'll be a candidate in next year's governor's race.

Swann mailed 15-thousand postcards to supporters, saying he'll make a major
announcement in January.

He's expected to kick off a statewide tour January 4th.

A Duke Center man is missing. State Police say Andrew Loveless left his home
Sunday afternoon, and hasn't been seen since.

Loveless is 5 foot four inches, about 150 pounds with brown hair. He was
last seen wearing jeans and a hooded gray and maroon flannel.

Police say the 26 year old is mentally disabled.

100 Gallons of off-road diesel is missing form a job site in Potter County.
Matthew Baker and Fesseden Construction Company say someone stole the fuel
from a Pike township work site.

The fuel was valued at about 3 hundred dollars.

State Police say the incident occurred on Judson Hollow Road sometime over
the weekend.

Bradford Regional Medical Center is scheduling appointments for area
diabetics who would like to receive flu shots.
Beginning this morning diabetics and family members who live with them, may
call the Center for Diabetes and Nutrition Education from 1 to 4 p.m. to
schedule an appointment.
The shots will be given from 1 to 3 on Thursday.
Walk-ins will not be accepted since only a limited amount of flu vaccine is
available. Diabetics don't have to be clients of the Center to get a flu
shot.

The McKean County Solid Waste Authority is fighting back against the county
commissioners.
The authority filed papers in McKean County court saying the resolution the
commissioners passed a month ago to dissolve the authority was improper.
Another document says the authority should continue to function because the
county's Municipal Waste Management Plan says the authority is the agency
charged with carrying out the plan.

A Coudersport man was arraigned by District Judge Barbara Boser today in
connection with two separate incidents
Kevin Lunn, who appeared in Military Uniform, is charged with intimidation
of witnesses or victims and harassment for allegedly following Jessica Lunn,
who is supposed to testify against him in another case.
Boser scheduled a preliminary hearing for December 28th in front of District
Judge Chris Hauser.
Lunn was also arraigned for allegedly writing 16 bad checks to the Foster
Brook Wal-Mart.
A preliminary hearing on charges of theft by deception has been scheduled
for December 28th in Boser's office.
Lunn is in McKean County Jail in lieu of 25 hundred dollars bail.

The Otto Eldred High School will be holding an openhouse on Monday December
12. The event will be from 5:30 pm until 7pm for parents to meet and talk
with teachers as well as parents of juniors and seniors to meet with
guidance counselors to discuss college choices and financial aid.
The Otto Eldred Show Choir will also be serving meals to parents, basketball
fans as well as other community members prior to the girls basketball game
with Kane. The Soup's On event is a fundraiser from 5 until 6:30 in the
High school cafeteria at four dollars a person including soup, bread, a

A 25-year-old Lewis Run man who went missing on Thursday and had made
threats to harm himself has been found. Eric Bradybaugh who left in a green
ford thunderbird, for an un-know destination has been located according to
the Pennsylvania State Police in Kane. No other information has been
released at this time.

Coudersport State Police are reporting another vehicle roll over yesterday.
Sinjin Haring was traveling north on West Binham / Ulysses Road when he
attempted to pass a bus that was traveling at a slower speed. Haring
reportedly lost control on some black ice and would end up rolling his
vehicle. Both Haring and his passenger were uninjured and were wearing
their seatbelts.

A vehicle suffered major damage after striking a PennDOT snowplow yesterday
afternoon. State Police report that the plow being operated by Gaylon
Clinton was traveling south on State Route 872 near Austin PA when the
weather caused a white out. A Nissan being driven by Carolyn Riedmiller and
the snowplow stuck each other in the conditions. The Plow truck suffered
minor damage to the plow while the Nissan suffered major damage and was town
from the scene. Riedmiller was transported to the Charles Cole Memorial
Hospital for minor injuries.

An Austin woman suffered minor injuries after her truck rolled over
yesterday Mary Keeler was traveling south on Reed Run Road in Keating
Township when she lost control then slid and struck an embankment on the
eastern berm causing the truck to roll over. Keeler was not wearing her
seatbelt and was transported to the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. The
vehicle suffered major damage to the top of the cab and was towed from the
scene.

Pennsylvania State Police in Coudersport are reporting an assault case in
Austin Friday morning. Matthew Nichols is being charged with the assault of
Paula Thompson after Nichols allegedly held Thompson down by her wrists
causing a minor injury. The act is reportedly in violation of an existing
PFA order.

The third season of Scholastic scrimmage will see teams from several local
schools beginning on Thursday night. Teams from Bradford, Coudersport,
Forest Hills and Indian Valley high schools will begin competitions at 8pm
Thursday on WPSU-TV. The Bradford team will feature Captain Matthew
Russell, Libby Cavagnaro, Michael Church, Josh Kinney, and alternate Melissa
Simon.

Sgt. 1st Class Brent A. Adams, 40, of West View, Pa., died in Ramadi,
Iraq on Dec. 1, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his
military
five-ton truck during combat operations. Adams was assigned to the Army
National
Guard's 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Washington, Pa.

Bradford City Police say after forcibly entering the home, someone took a
DVD player, PlaySTation and other items.

A Bradford man took state police on a 20-mile chase at 4:30 this morning on
Route 66 in Forest County.
Police say 39-year-old William J. Tipton was driving too fast for road
conditions and was involved in a crash with 32-year-old Brenda Lawrence of
Rimbersberg.
Tipton fled the scene and eluded state troopers for 20 miles before he was
stopped.
Police arrested him, then took him to Warren County Jail.
No one was hurt.

A Houston, Pennsylvania, man suffered minor injuries when her SUV hit a
utility pole this morning on Route 6 in Hamilton Township.
State police say Newton Jeffers was traveling east when his vehicle went out
of control while rounding a curve.
They add that there was major damage to his SUV.

A horse pulling an Amish buggy was hurt during an accident at just after 5
o'clock Thursday afternoon.
Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies say 60-year-old Lucille Villa was
trying to pass the buggy, at the same time the buggy started to turn.
The horse rolled onto the hood of the car, then was taken to a nearby barn
for treatment of its injuries.
No people were hurt, and no charges were filed.

Emergency crews have been busy responding to accidents throughout the
region after this weeks snowstorm.
One of them happened at about 8:30 this morning on Route 219 in Lafayette
Township.
State police say Tracy Skillman of Bradford was driving her SUV south when
it went out of control on the snow-covered road, fish-tailed, then hit an
embankment and rolled onto its roof.
Police add that Skillman suffered minor injuries, but her vehicle had major
damage.
The Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Because of all the accident, expect delays while traveling as police clear
the accident scenes and re-route traffic. Among the areas experiencing
delays are Custer City near Route 770 and Derrick Road.

There are no woolly adelgid's in the Allegheny National Forest, according to
a study be the US department of Agriculture Forest Service.

Local trees are under intense surveillance as the invasive species makes its
way across the east cost, including Centre and Clinton Counties.

The hemlock wooly adelgid can kill trees within four to seven years. The
monitoring for the bug will continues.

Carla Housler works with a national non-profit organization that builds
playgrounds. The 2004 Austin High School Graduate appeared on Three Wishes
with Amy Grant at 9 tonight.

Housler is a sophomore at New Mexico State University.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has chosen it's executive Director. 57 year
old Carl Roe, the current Game Commission director of administrative
services will take over the executive director position.

Roe is a retired Army Colonel living in Carlisle. He's worked for the Game
Commission since 2001.

Roe replaces outgoing director Vern Ross, who will be retiring December 31.

A Chimney fire called out Bradford Township Firefighters Thursday.

A house at 1 Willowdale Drive caught fire where the home's wood stovepipe
went through the wall.

The fire was contained, very little damage was reported, and no one was
injured.
Fire Chief Dan Burkhouse says workers had to open up part of the wall to put
out the fire.

Two airlines are looking into using the Essential Air Service to fly out of
Bradford. Airport Manager Tom Frungillo says the US Department of
Transportation made the announcements that two carriers are vying for the
right to operate out of Bradford.

Colgan air, while trying to renegotiate it's current contract is considering
the continuation, with connections to Pittsburgh, and Washington DC.

RegionsAir is offering a package as well, with connections to Cleveland.

distance calling card. 43-year-old Raylene Baker reported the alleged fraud.
The calls in question occurred between August and September.

The say he left Pine Run Road at about 6:30 this morning in a green Ford
Thunderbird for an unknown destination.

Police say he has made threats to harm himself.

Three former Kane residents have been charged with welfare fraud and
forgery.

50-year-old Rosella M. Simmons-Medlin, 28-year-old Robert D. Frain and
23-year-old Melody A. Moyer allegedly obtained thousands of dollars in
public assistance, cash assistance and food stamps over the last several
years.

The charges were filed by the state office of the Inspector General.

Frain and Moyer are scheduled for preliminary hearings on December 12th in
front of District Judge Michael Kennedy.

An Olean man was charged with sexual abuse after he allegedly grabbed a
Crosby woman in a sexual manner after being told not to.

Police say 21-year-old Michael John H. Lord was charged after the alleged
incident at just after midnight tonight on Edwards Court.

US Congressman John Peterson announces that Coudersport School district has
received a 52 thousand dollar federal grant to implement a drug testing
program. The program is designed to keep kids from experimenting with
illicit drugs.

The man killed in Venango County alongside the road has been identified.
State Police say the body was left as passing motorists mistook the body for
that of a roadkill deer.

Police say Jason Knight - was in another accident before being hit by a car
along State Route 157 in Pine Grove Township.

They say Knight left the crash scene on foot, and walked five miles before
he was struck by a Jeep Cherokee.

Police are still investigating the details in the death.

As things cool off and winter gets moving, McKean County Commissioners have
expressed concern about heating bills for many local residents. Officials
urge local residents who may be eligible to apply for Low Income Heating and
Energy Assistance. Applications are being accepted until March 23. Paperwork
is available at the county Assistance office.

A Burglary is under investigation in Sharon Township. State Police say Linda
Gies reported someone broke into her camp, rummaged through her cabinets, an
ripped a gas heater off the wall before fleeing the scene. The incident
occurred sometime between October 2 and Wednesday.

Charges have been filed against Bradford Township Supervisory Tom Vickery
for an incident two weeks ago.

Bradford City Police Officer Carl Milks reports that Vickery came into the
station to complain that an old man had assaulted him across the street at
the Kennedy Street Café.

After an investigation, Milks discovered that an argument had occurred
between 74 year old Robert Pascarella and Vickery that resulted in some
pushing.

Milks says based on the account of witnesses at the café, Pascerella was not
charged, and disorderly conduct charges have been filed against Vickery for
his behavior in the incident.

Witnesses say the incident started over an argument about the Bradford City
Ambulance Service.

Conditions permitting, the trails will stay open through April first.

Turtlepoint resident, Mary Niles had charges of theft by deception and
forgery waived to court before District Judge Barbara Boser last week.
While employed by Autozone she allegedly took $133.94 in forged vouchers for
returned merchandise and refunded the money to herself. Also, Olean
resident, Tony Brockel had charges of theft by deception and receiving
stolen property, waived to court. He allegedly paid an Otto Township
resident for a 1996 Polaris 300 four-wheeler with a check that belonged to a
Florida resident.

A convicted Bradford sex offender had charges bound to court, and was sent
to jail after a preliminary hearing yesterday.

Twenty-four year old, Bradford resident, Daniel DeHaven had charges of
stalking, indecent assault and terroristic threats bound over to court
Wednesday before District Judge Chris Hauser. DeHaven had allegedly touched
and threatened a seven year old male.

He's also accused of peeking through the youth's window.

DeHaven was remanded to McKean County Jail.

At Dehaven's initial arraignment on the second offense, Chris Hauser set
bail at five thousand dollars.
